Over the past two/three years Brockmoor children have successfully donated money to buy/build 6 toilets in countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo. One in three people world wide don't have a toilet. Through Brockmoor and Toilet Twinning we are begining to flush away poverty. The six toilets (see Front Office area at school for photographs) enable both adults and children to use a toilet in safety and hygienically.
Why they do it?
2.3 billion people don’t have somewhere safe and hygienic to go to the toilet. (WHO/Unicef)
Almost 1,000 children die every day from preventable diseases linked to dirty water and unsafe toilets. (UN)
663 million people live without safe water.
Children worldwide miss 443 million school days each year because of dirty water and poor sanitation.
Every year, women and girls spend 97 billion hours finding a place to go.
