Nursery children whose parents are legible for 30 hours of provision are welcome to stay for lunch; please see Mrs Holtham (our Early Years lead) for further information. Year 1 and 2 have lunch from 11:50 to 12:50. Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 lunches run from 12:10 to 1:05 with each having one early lunchtime. Following requests from our School Councillors we are trilling an indoor lunchtime activity club for children in every phase of school across the winter and early spring months.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a 'universal free school meal' (that means hot dinners and grab bags are free). Once a child moves into Year 3 if you are in receipt of certain benefits your child can still have a free meal. Unfortunately it is up to you to apply for this. IT IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL THAT ALL PARENTS IN RECEIPT OF ANY FORM OF UNIVERSAL TAX CREDIT OR ANY OTHER BENEFIT APPROACH SCHOOL WITH REGARD TO APPLYING FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS AS THIS ATTRACTS AN EXTRA £1,320 OF FUNDING FOR SCHOOL. If parents and carers of ALL children (including Nursery, Reception and KS1 children) do not do so you deny us of vital funding that pays for the high level of incredibly talented support staff we have in school!
Parents and carers who wish to take their children home at lunchtimes are welcome to do so. This is not something we encourage as the social aspect of lunchtime is important in developing the whole child. If parents or carers do wish to take their child home this must be organised with office team and it is the responsibility of the adult to collect and drop the child off at the start and end of lunch.
Between the October and February half-terms we offer indoor clubs at lunchtimes for children who really don't want to spend too long outside. The library is also open to children (thanks to volunteers from our Parent Voice group).
